How Safe Is Transport
Jerry A. Focht, RRT Monday, November 4, 1996
The air ambulance environment provides unique challenges for maintaining correct infection control. From the flight to the small rural hospital for the six year old with suspected bacterial meningitis, to the high speed motor vehicle crash with the suspected intravenous drug user, air ambulance crews need to be informed and prepared for these situations before they arise.
Utilizing the Commission on Accreditation of Air Medical Services standards and the federal OSHA standards, air ambulance providers can implement infection control and communicable disease policies and procedures.
