Equipment Used in Long-Term Oxygen Therapy

The presentation begins with a brief, visual history of the evolution of long-term oxygen therapy equipment, coupled with a concise overview of the regulatory agencies governing the manufacturing and use of long-term oxygen therapy equipment.
The bulk of the presentation is devoted to discussion of the features and benefits of the major manufacturer's home oxygen therapy equipment currently available, including liquid oxygen systems, concentrators, cylinders, and conserving devices. Literature regarding the efficacy of conservation devices and patient compliance with long term oxygen therapy is summarized. Strategies for determining the most cost-effective oxygen delivery system are included. Future oxygen equipment technologies are explored.
