Transformation to Critical Thinking

Delivering effective respiratory care requires critical thinking, The ability to solve problems effectively and deal with unique clinical situations is more critical today than ever before in our practice, Today's respiratory therapist are gathering information, making assessments, formulating care plans and communication solutions across the continuum of care, All indications suggest that the successful respiratory care service will be provided by a staff capable of adapting to a rapidly changing environment, who are proficient in making complex decisions and delivering competent care.
This presentation will focus on the recognition of the critical thinking levels present within the respiratory care service. Tools & strategies for assessing and enhancing the critical thinking skills of practicing respiratory therapist will be described, Pitfalls and stumbling blocks commonly seen in attempts to improve the department's critical thinking skills will be illustrated using practical experiences and case scenarios.
