How to Get Your 'Dream' Job
Depending on which job market you are considering, jobs can be plentiful or scarce. How does one go about finding your "Dream Job"? Step one is to develop a Needs Analysis. Without knowing, in detail, what you desire you will be unable to evaluate positions that you are considering. Following the development of the Needs Analysis, one then begins to do Pre-Interview Information Gathering. A person can gather enormous amounts of information about a position, a hospital, a city, a region of the country if you know resources to help you. After a person has done the necessary research and compared it to the Needs Analysis, one can decide if they should continue to pursue this job. If they choose to continue, then information gathering continues at the interview. Knowing what today's managers are looking for in applicants is always helpful so that your resume and cover letter does not get unnecessarily screened out of the applicant pool. Once accepted for an interview, questions need to be asked that relate to the person's Needs Analysis. Information must be gathered from not only the manager but also from the staff to ensure accuracy of information. If a person uses good interviewing skills, the interviewer will probably now offer you the job. Familiarity with the "negotiating game" is extremely helpful, as those who are ignorant of the rules are unable to secure the salary that that matches their skill level. Even though it may be tempting to accept the offer on the spot, one still needs to do the final step which is to compare all of the information that is available to that of the Needs Analysis. If there is a "match" then you have found your "Dream Job"
