The Patient's Perspective: Thriving--Not Just Surviving
Barbara Rogers, BA Breethezy, New York, New York
Transition from hospital to home, and integrating a "ventilator" into one's everyday life, can be a trying experience for both the vent user and the family. A ventilator user herself for over ten years and Director of an innovative respiratory education and recovery program for the ventilator community, Ms. Rogers will give an inside view of this process. She will highlight the often "non-rational" fears and "non-medical" issues that can prohibit compliance and will offer take-home "tools" that the vent user and family can use to help provide the "missing link" necessary for a successful transition and outcome.
