The Nurse's Perspective: Nursing Care for the Home Mechanical Ventilator Patient
Valerie Ann Cummings, RN BSN Unique Nurses, Inc., Virginia and Maryland Area
People who require home mechanical ventilation often have numerous medical conditions requiring nursing intervention. It is important that all members of the healthcare team be aware of the vent user's medical conditions, and be aware of the related care plan goals. This presentation will provide an overview of some common nursing care interventions that may not be generally well known, including prevention of skin breakdown and bowel training programs.
