Advances in Asthma
Paul Enright, MD University Medical Center, Tucson, Arizona
Taking a pill once or twice a day is certainly an easy way to treat asthma and achieves much higher compliance rates than using an inhaler two to four times a day. Leukotriene modifiers are the latest asthma craze, and they seem safe.

2. Do they reduce airway inflammation?
3. Do they prevent airway remodeling?
4. Should they be used as monotherapy for mild asthma or only as steroid-sparing agents for severe asthma?
