Easier Management through the Cultivation of Quality

Karen J. Stewart, MS, RRT Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, West Virginia

One of the most important areas of health care today lies in the ability to demonstrate the care given to patients is done so with high quality. Using the Quality System, a manager can break the process flow into components that assist in the identification of variances from the model. It is the variances from the model that can create inefficiency and increase costs.
Today we will examine the model in use and demonstrate how a variance can increase costs or create a need to change detail in a therapeutic intervention. The goal is to create greater efficiency and maintain quality.
