27th Donald F. Egan Scientific Lecture - Are Respiratory Therapists Effective? Assessing the Evidence
James K. Stoller, MD Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland Ohio
This lecture provides an overview of in-depth information about dynamic aspects of pulmonary physiology, pulmonary medicine, or clinical respiratory care.
In the current cost-attentive climate, all health care providers are being examined closely for their contributions to effective care. The 2000 Donald F. Egan Scientific Lecture will examine the evidence that respiratory care practitioners are effective. Specific contributions include special expertise in respiratory care modalities and implementation of respiratory care protocols, which have been shown to enhance the allocation of care. Finally, future investigative needs in this area will be considered.
